Topic "Chevron / hungarian herringbone." a message from big_al

I'm doing a 300 sq ft room with a perpendicular border. 3/4 x 4 inch by 20 inch. Is there any reason I should not use solid? House is "normal", room is on second floor. Gets humid in summer and dry in winter. Ive gone through alot of pictures and noticed in france they some times use of bevelled edge flooring and use spacers on each board. I am planning on nailing unless I should glue to prevent it from moving around.

I can not seem to find a source other than regular herringbone, or chevron at $10/ft (plain red oak).
