Johannes - An update. At your suggestion I accessed the link you provided in your response. It was very helpful; Sikaflex 298 looked perfect. Then I looked for Sikaflex suppliers from whom I could purchase it, and drew a complete blank, with the exception of overseas (non-US) suppliers. So I phoned Jamestown Distributors in Rhode Island, one of the more prominent suppliers of Sika products, to learn why the 298 wasn't available for purchase in the US. A very helpful person ("Jack") explained that it was only available in conjunction with a professional service for laying boat decks. He recommended Sikaflex 252, explaining that it was fairly easy to spread and otherwise easy to work with. So that's what I ordered.
