Interesting subject delamination! On further reflection I have never seen the core separate, except when flooded. It is always the veneer separating from the core and even then generally 3 or 4 boards on the end. Exactly where one would expect it to happen when the RH levels get below 20% or 4.5% MC. Even then almost always Exotics in my experience which unless one keeps their RH at mfg requirements will MAYBE present a problem. www.buildingscience.com suggests that if the RH does not get below 25% RH or 4.5% MC one should not experience face checking or separation. This has also been my experience! If I were in some other geographic location perhaps I would see it, I don't know.
