During the heating season here in North Carolina I encounter many subfloors that drop to about 6% mc. Existing oak floors during this time generally check out around that percentage as well. Folks still keep their windows open through May and into June, when the humidity jumps to 80% or more, bringing the wood moisture content to 9-10 before they get the air conditioning turned on. How can I achieve a good median mc% during the heating season? I'm not sure homeowners are going to put up with humidifying the entire house for 2 weeks prior to installation....
