Help, I have newly installed red oak. The area is about 1000 sq feet. My floor guy bleached it twice and neutralized. ( we plan on staining it a beautiful light gray ) . After the second round of bleach & neutralized, 9 of the wood boards shattered, they cracked & are all splintered. The wood was not bleached twice in the same day. I think the second bleaching was the next day. They have to be replaced. Its not good.we are now behind on schedule. and its going to be difficult to remove some of the damaged wood. He has done many many white floors, knows how to bleach & been doing floors for over 20 years. I feel confident that he did the bleaching process correct. Does anyone know why this happened? how could it have been avoided? also the wood boards that it happened to all have the same grain pattern.
