Green boards! Help --in my living room and large foyer/ hall my new RED oak
floors were bleached twice and received two coats of duraseal stain . They were a perfect
shade of pale gray. The floor was beautiful . The foyer /hall stain was a bit
uneven so it was very lightly sanded or screened and received a third coat of
stain. After the stain in the foyer/ hall dried for 2 days ( at this point the
stain in the living room has been dried for a total of 5 days ) the first coat
of finish went on -bona traffic HD matte .
The next day 30% of the living room had developed greenish boards ,and some are
more yellowish . Some of the boards that turned green, some parts of those
boards did not change color- so a board is green and the perfect gray . In some cases the whole board turned green .The
foyer is in perfect condition . Not one tiny color change. My floor guy &
contractor have been in this business for 20 years and have never seen this
before. Does anyone know why this happened ? we are devastated & stunned. Grateful for any explanation.
I have attached a pic of one of the boards - it was hard to capture the green color with my iphone
Thank you
