Never would have thought I'd be saying this about floor finishes but this is a really interesting discussion, especially now that I'm about to attack my own hw floor project.
After sifting through an unexpectedly complex maze of choices I landed on Owens unfinished engineered Brazilian cherrywood and will go the Woca natural oil route, no stain (and hopefully have it done by Christmas). Woca being wholly derived from vegetable source I believe it is VOC-free(?) or at least close. Makes one wonder what vegetable it is derived from.
Raoena, we are in California also and got both wood and our oil from a local company that handles a variety of products including Woca. Ordered wood in the afternoon and was there in the morning, quite a contrast to some of the other businesses I've dealt with during an unexpected rush remodel.
Don't know if it's okay to refer to specific businesses here so if you're interested send me a PM.
Will report back how our project turns out, I have the impression at this point that oil finished Brazilian cherry isn't done very often, maybe the pros here can correct me on that.
Great discussion and source of info here, thanks.
