So I've been working solo for a while now, and can't seem to avoid the 12-18 hour days on the job to make the deadlines--not to mention estimates and paperwork. I've got jobs on schedule all the way into April, and have pretty much quit returning calls for new estimates. Sort of torn between taking on an employee or two, or just deciding to be okay with turning down the big jobs from now on. How did it work out for those of you who made the jump from solo to running a (small) crew? Was it a big difference immediately in time savings, or did it get worse before it got better? Is the management extra headache, or did it free you up? I'd appreciate any perspectives out there.
