Hi! I recently had new oak flooring installed in large area of my home. Also had existing refinished. The first time my floor was full of debris…it was all over. The contractor told me this is normal. We said no and he buffed/sanded & recoated. I should mention he used oil and the stain is dark. It was still full of debris…better, but you could see clumps of dust, hair, etc. The floor felt like acne. At that point my husband suggested we find someone else but our contractor said he could make us happy. He sanded again and coated with a water based finish. The floor looks much better, still debris, but we were willing to just live with it because of all the hassle. Now, in the evening with lights on in our home I see swirl marks everywhere. I did not see them before so perhaps they are from the most recent attempt to fix. I'm wondering if I should even go through having them redone by this man, whether or not chances are they can be eliminated, or if I just have someone else fix in the future. Is this an easy problem to resolve? General thoughts on the process so far? Thank you for any comments / suggestions you have. Appreciate it very much.
