Topic "Estimating the "Installation costs"" a message from going2thesunroad

Hello,

I recently visited a "large flooring distributor" and am attempting to have hand scraped engineered click lock flooring installed as a floating floor in an open concept condominium. (Total flooring square footage required is approximately 600). The floor currently is covered with a floating laminate floor except for the kitchen which has builder grade ceramic 12x12 tiles on it. The subfloor is gyp-crete. I am having an estimator come out this week and wanted to get a good idea of what the reasonable costs should be as when we spoke at the store it seemed like every thing was an extra charge. Is this typical or should i look elsewhere? Assuming the price comes out high. The floors I am looking at are $5.25 per sq/ft. He mentioned there would be a charge of $75.00 per hour for removal of current laminate; a charge (yet to be determined for removal of ceramic) which comprises approximately 120 sq/ft; a possible charge to level and prep gyp-crete; a $75.00 charge per each large piece of furniture to be moved from one side of the condo to the other while installing the flooring; A $150 dollar delivery charge for the product to be brought to my condo which is approximately 12 miles from the store. PLUS the basic $2.50 per sq/ft charge for installation. I would appreciate any input as to if all these extra cost plus the basic installation.

Thanks,
