Topic "Oils/ Hardwax oils" a message from lstroyan

I was wondering if anyone could give me a few more thoughts on hardwax oils. I'm going for an "eco-contemporary" style on rift-only white oak solid 5" planks. I want a tinted oil only, in a standard color for spot repair, not a pre-color, custom color, or reactive stain. I don't need sheen but I don't want the wood to look unfinished / thirsty as that is too rustic for this house. I've pretty much narrowed the options down to:

RMC custom pre-finished (with microbevel) - the mill that does this uses Rubio UV cured and I have a choice of colors. Planning to order Smoke (color), Walnut, and 5% White samples, but wondering about the durability of the UV finish, since the 2C is supposed to be more fade resistant. I would most likely top-coat this on-site with Universal oil or the Ciranova for a bit more finish as Devon has described. (I know it's not actually a "topcoat").

Site-finished, with sanding hired out to someone with a "dustless" system and floor installed and finished by retired general contractor that has done lots of work on our house and laid hardwood but is not an expert (he's put in hardwood deck, watertight aluminum deck, and tile for me already). Going this route I would probably use either Ciranova or RMC with a clear second coat, depending on colors. Haven't completely ruled out other brands but really don't want to mix colors to get the look I want.

Opinions/suggestions/advice? Experience with RMC UV versus 2c? Any suggestions for Ciranova colors that would look contemporary on white rift oak? Eco-options, I've looked at your flickr page but they don't have the colors labeled.

Thanks,

Lisa
