I'm replacing part of my boat's cabin sole. The flooring is teak & holly plywood, 1/4" thick. It will be laid on a flat fiberglass gelcoat surface. The piece is about 4' x 2.5'. I've had a number of suggestions, but none very authoritative in which I can have confidence. One was buttering both surfaces with contact cement, one was using a thickened epoxy resin. I think contact cement is very unforgiving of any misplacement, and the epoxy bond would be irreversible. The original adhesive held the wood in place well for over 20 years, but still allowed me to remove the old, damaged wood without damaging the substrate. Has anyone had any experience in this, and could offer some suggestions?
