Good evening, I am attempting to find a qualified and reputable installer in the Northern Virginia area to install Cali click lock Fossilized Strand Bamboo flooring in a floating floor application where the subfloor is gyp-crete. I spoke with some installers in the area who seemed knowledgeable with wood floor installations and both expressed concerns over the expansion and contraction of this product and limited willingness to work with it. On the Cali website it indicates that an acclimation period of a minimum of 72 hours is recommended . It also recommends having the installation done by an NWFA Certified Installer. I went to the NWFA website and none came up within a 25 mile radius. One of the wood floor installers I spoke with mentioned that he saw a bamboo floor installed that contracted approximately 1 inch beyond the quarter round. another installer indicated he saw bamboo twist when taken out of the box to acclimate rendering it unusable . Are my expect ions to install this unreasonable. It seems to me that if acclimated properly for long enough and the expansion gap provided when installed is adequate and the installation instructions provided by CALI are followed to the T that this should not be a big issue to install and not have and major problems after it is complete. I am attempting to find an installer that fits this bill and is willing to stand behind their install warranty. Any recommendations of such an individual would be greatly appreciated. NWFA Certified would be the best!
